When it comes to imaging software, we know that you have a lot of tools to choose from. We thought it would be fun to find out exactly what features IT pros love most about SmartDeploy. So, we hit the streets (virtually, anyway) and headed over to our beloved Spiceworks community to ask the question: What’s your favorite SmartDeploy feature and why?
When it comes to imaging software, we know that you have a lot of tools to choose from. We thought it would be fun to find out exactly what features IT pros love most about SmartDeploy. So, we hit the streets (virtually, anyway) and headed over to our beloved Spiceworks community to ask the question:
This spicy group had a lot say but here are the top two SmartDeploy features:
Platform Packs: Driver headaches, solved.
These handy driver packages are created by the SmartDeploy technicians and contain all of the necessary drivers to successfully deploy to a target device. Each pack is unique to its specific endpoint by make and model, physical or virtual, and only includes the drivers needed for that device. We are constantly creating new packages, increasing our library to include over 700 business class devices. This approach to driver management is a big time-saver when it comes to pc deployment, and is one reason customers find them so helpful.
Single Image Management: One image works perfect on everything.
The SmartDeploy approach to image management makes it stand out from many other imaging solutions. Spiceheads found that logically separating hardware and software information allows for more flexibility in relation to image deployment, and for their organization. Having the capability to deploy one image to multiple devices while keeping the image library minimal and current is one of the main reasons customers love SmartDeploy.
Spiceheads sang praises for a variety of other features including:
- Clean/streamlined UI
- The ability to manage BYOD in today’s environments
- The use of virtual machines as a reference computer
- No Sysprep needed
- You don’t have to be an IT guru to capture and deploy images
- Reduction of image library
- Simplicity of reimaging/PC-break fix
All of these features translate to easily capturing and deploying images to thousands of machines with one toolset while reducing deployment associated labor by 50% or more. It offers the best possible user experience and significantly reduces the endpoint burden on IT.
