It’s officially the season of giving! Hearing of the ways SmartDeploy customers are giving back has us gushing with pride. We truly have the best customers around.
When IT Director of American Academy Charter Schools, Brian Wherry, reached out to ask if we would support him in a project he was doing, we were thrilled to say yes. We also saw this as an opportunity to share the incredible things our customers are doing outside of the everyday IT projects that often times seem to consume us.
Next month, Brian’s team will donate 60 laptops to Project Adopt A Village (PAAV) International in Kenya, Africa. The computers are being sent to Chaplain Wanjiru Mukunga, Founder and President of PAAV, and will be used at a school in the village of Gitombo, Kenya. They will empower and transform the way both students and teachers learn. This donation aligns perfectly with PAAV International’s early vision:
“The project will bring about a comprehensive community development; change people’s attitudes and way of living; do away with old and oppressive ways of life and adopt new ways that would bring the village into the 21st century. The project will enlist the participation of the local people in Gitombo as well as outsiders, and will function as a model to be emulated by other villages throughout Kenya; opening opportunities for children to be exposed to the outside world and live out their dreams, develop their God-given talents, and fulfill their purposes. They will then be encouraged to take ownership of the village, develop leaders and have young people finish school.”
In a thank you message from PAAV to American Academy Charter Schools, Wanjiru says, “It is amazing that in the era of technology there are communities in which most people have not touched or seen a computer. Through your donation that is going to change. Both the children, the teachers and others will be trained. What a gift this truly is!”
We are beyond thankful for the partnerships we have with organizations, like American Academy Charter Schools, that are making a difference in their communities and beyond.
